The cleaning of industrial factory fans (usually referring to large industrial ceiling fans with diameters ranging from 3 meters to 7.6 meters or even larger) is very important. Proper cleaning not only keeps the air fresh, but also extends the lifespan of the fan and ensures safe operation.

Warning: Before performing any cleaning or maintenance, be sure to cut off the power to the fan! This is an important safety step!

The following are detailed correct cleaning steps and precautions:

  1、 Preparation before cleaning

Power off: Find the power switch or circuit breaker connected to the fan, make sure it is completely turned off and locked with a tag to prevent accidental operation.

  Prepare tools and cleaning agents:

High altitude work platforms (such as scissor lifts, elevators): This is necessary! It is strictly prohibited to climb the fan body or stand on other unstable objects for operation.

Soft bristled brush, long handled cleaning brush: used to remove stubborn dust.

Clean soft cloth, sponge, or cloth: Prepare a few extra pieces.

Spray kettle or low-pressure spray gun: used for spraying cleaning agents and clean water.

Large bucket: used to hold cleaning water.

Neutral cleaning agents (such as diluted dishwashing detergent): Strong acids, alkalis, or corrosive cleaning agents must be avoided as they can damage the coating on the surface of fan blades and motor components.

Protective equipment: gloves, goggles, to prevent dust and cleaning agents from splashing into the eyes.

2、 Step by step cleaning process

  Step 1: Preliminary dust removal

Use a dry soft bristled brush or long handled brush to gently sweep away floating dust and spider webs on the fan blades, protective net (if any), and motor casing. Sweep from top to bottom, allowing most of the loose dust to naturally fall off.

  Step 2: Configure cleaning solution

Pour warm water into a large bucket and add a small amount of neutral detergent (such as a few drops of dishwashing liquid), mix well. The solution should not be too concentrated to avoid leaving sticky residues.

Step 3: Wipe the blades and body

Soak cloth: Soak a soft cloth or sponge in cleaning solution, then thoroughly wring it out to avoid dripping water. This is the key point to prevent excessive moisture from entering the motor or bearings.

  Wipe them one by one:

Blade: Gently hold the blade with your hand (make sure the fan is completely powered off!), and carefully wipe the upper and lower surfaces of the blade with a wrung out damp cloth. For stubborn oil stains or dirt, you can use a soft bristled brush dipped in a small amount of cleaning solution to gently scrub.

Motor casing and connecting components: Wipe the motor casing, support structure, etc. of the fan. Special attention: Be very careful when wiping, and be sure to avoid letting water or cleaning agents seep into the ventilation openings, bearings, or electrical junction boxes inside the motor.

Protective net: If the fan has a safety net, it can be removed (if allowed by the design) for thorough cleaning and wiping.

Step 4: Rinse and wipe dry

'Rinse': This is not a direct high-pressure water gun rinse, but rather:

Use a wrung out damp cloth with clean water to wipe off any remaining cleaning agents on the blades and body.

Alternatively, use a water sprayer and switch to mist mode. Gently spray clean water from a distance and immediately wipe dry with a dry cloth.

Thoroughly dry: Use another clean, dry soft cloth to thoroughly dry all parts of the fan, especially the blades and metal connections, to prevent rust and water stains from forming.

Step 5: Final inspection and restoration of power supply

Inspection: After cleaning, carefully check whether all components have been securely installed and wiped dry. Ensure that no tools or debris are left on the fan.

Stand still: Let the fan naturally ventilate for a period of time (e.g. 30 minutes) to ensure that all moisture evaporates completely.

Restore power supply: After confirming everything is correct, turn on the power switch, start the fan at low speed first, and observe whether it runs smoothly and has no abnormal noise. After confirming normal operation, gradually switch to a higher speed.

  3、 Suggested cleaning cycle

Conventional environment: It is recommended to clean once every 3-6 months.

Environments with high dust, humidity or corrosive gases (such as textile factories, foundries, food processing plants): It is necessary to increase the cleaning frequency, and it is recommended to clean once every 1-2 months.

  4、 Important precautions (must read)

Safety comes first, and live operation is strictly prohibited!

Do not rinse directly with water! High pressure water guns or direct splashing can seriously damage motor bearings, electrical components, and internal circuits, leading to short circuits, malfunctions, and even safety accidents.

Avoid blade deformation: Do not press or impact the blades forcefully during cleaning. The balance of large fan blades is very important, and even small deformations can cause severe shaking during operation.

Protective coating: Use neutral cleaner and soft cloth to avoid scratching with sharp objects such as steel wire balls and hard brushes, in order to prevent damage to the anti-corrosion coating on the blade surface.

Professional maintenance: For very high installation positions (such as over 10 meters) or deep maintenance involving core components such as motors and reducers, it is strongly recommended to contact the fan supplier or a professional maintenance team for handling. They have professional equipment and technology.

  Summary:

The correct cleaning core of industrial fans is "power-off, dry wet combination, avoiding flushing, and thoroughly drying". By following the above steps, you can safely and effectively complete the daily cleaning work of the fan, ensuring the continuous, stable, and efficient operation of your industrial fan.
